Information:

Stopping the Vehicle
Be sure the parking brake is applied and holding vehicle before leaving cab.Always block wheels securely before leaving truck.
1. Release the accelerator and depress the service brake pedal to stop the truck.2. Push the transmission control to NEUTRAL, after the truck has stopped.
Do not use the parking brake to stop the vehicle.If the parking brake does not function properly, contact your Caterpillar dealer.
Stopping the Engine
1. Run the engine at low idle for 5 minutes. 2. Park the truck on level ground. If the truck is parked on a slope, block the wheels. 3. Move the engine shutoff switch up to stop the engine. After the engine stops, release the switch.
Never turn the disconnect switch OFF while the engine is running. Serious damage to the electrical system may result.
4. After the 3 second test of the supplemental steering circuit, turn the disconnect switch off and remove the key.5. Before leaving the cab, apply the parking brake and make sure it is holding the vehicle.6. Drain the water from the air reservoirs. 7. Use the steps and grab irons when dismounting.Draining Air Reservoirs
1. Raise the three levers up to drain the service retarder (1) engine governor (2) and the parking emergency brake air reservoirs (3). After the tanks drain, return the levers to the down position. 2. Turn the bleed plug to drain the wet tank air reservoir. After the tank drains, close the bleed plug.
Do not turn the bleed plug more than one full turn when draining the wet tank reservoir. After draining, close the bleed plug.
The air start tank should be drained with the engine running and allowed to refill prior to engine shutdown, unless external air source is available to recharge the reservoir.3. If equipped with air start, drain the air start reservoir.
