Location of the transmission output speed sensor (1) Speed sensorsThe two transmission output speed sensors receive power from the Chassis Electronic Control Module (Chassis ECM). The sensors for the transmission output speed use the power from the Chassis ECM in order to send a signal for the transmission output speed to the Chassis (ECM). The gear for the transmission speed sensors has 30 teeth. The gear for the transmission output speed sensor is connected to the transmission output shaft.The speed of the teeth will determine the signals that are sent by the transmission output speed sensors to the Chassis (ECM). This informs the Chassis (ECM) of the ground speed of the machine. This information and the information from the position switch for the transmission shift lever allow the transmission to automatically shift while the ground speed changes. The transmission will automatically shift until the information from the position switch for the transmission shift lever signals the Chassis (ECM) to stop automatic shifts.Usually, the transmission will not shift into a higher speed than the speed that is selected on the transmission control. During overspeed conditions, the transmission will upshift by one gear or the transmission will unlock the torque converter.When the signals from the transmission output speed sensor indicate a downshift, the Chassis (ECM) will automatically downshift.
