Rework Procedure
Introduction
For regions and applications that need a better filtration for fuel system cleanliness, an additional fuel filter is available for certain 938H Wheel Loaders and IT38H Integrated Toolcarriers.
Removal Procedure
Ensure that all adjustments and repairs that are carried out to the fuel system
are performed by authorized personnel that have the correct training. Refer to System Operation, Testing and Adjusting, "Cleanliness of Fuel System Components" for detailed information on the standards of cleanliness that must be observed during ALL work on the fuel system. Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during
performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product.
Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.
Refer to NENG2500, Special Publication, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.
Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
1. Open the engine hood.
2. Disconnect and remove the 311-1331 Fuel Tube (1) and 278-5201 Connectors (2). Plug the connections to avoid contamination. Refer to Image1.1.1.

Installation Procedure
3. Attach 370-6032 Bracket Assembly (3) to the engine block holes in the position shown in Image1.2.1.

4. Use 6I-0654 Bolt (4) to secure the bracket to the engine. Refer to Image1.3.1.
5. Install 346-0523 Filter Assembly (5) on 370-6032 Bracket Assembly (3) as shown in Image1.3.1.
6. Use 6I-0593 Bolt (6) in order to mount the filter assembly. Refer to Image1.3.1.

7. Install 362-4732 Fuel Line Assembly (7) from the secondary filter Port 3 to Port 4 of the new 346-0523 Fuel Filter Assembly (5). Connect 362-4731 Fuel Line (8) to the ECM and Port 3 of the new 346-0523 Fuel Filter Assembly (5). Refer to Image1.4.1.

8. Fit 334-4155 Clip (9) to the new pipe at the position shown in Image1.5.1.

9. Prime the fuel system. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Fuel System ? Prime".
10. Run the engine. Check the fuel system for leaks.
The additional fuel filter should be replaced at the same time as the secondary fuel filter.
