Two people are needed in order to perform the test of parking brake solenoid valve (2) .
Start the tractor engine and allow the pressure to reach the cut-out pressure. The cut-out pressure is 965 34 kPa (140 5 psi).
Place parking brake control (1) in the ENGAGED position. The control is in the ENGAGED position when the knob is pulled up. Stop the engine. Leave the start switch in the ON position.
Place the parking brake control in the DISENGAGED position. The control is in the DISENGAGED position when the knob is depressed. If a click is heard or a vibration is felt, parking brake solenoid valve (2) is being energized. If the solenoid did not energize, proceed with the test.
Disconnect the electrical connector at the solenoid valve.
Use the parking brake control in order to activate the disconnected solenoid circuit.
Use the 6V-7070 Digital Multimeter in order to check the voltage on the electrical connector that has been disconnected. The voltage in the circuit should read 24 volts.
If the voltage in the circuit is too low or if there is no voltage, check the circuit for a bad connection. If the voltage is 24 volts, proceed to test the resistance of the solenoid.Solenoid Resistance
Use the 6V-7070 Digital Multimeter in order to check the resistance of the solenoid. Place a lead of the multimeter on each terminal of the solenoid. The resistance should be approximately 42.4 2.1 ohms at 25° 5°C (77° 9°F).
If the resistance of the solenoid is too high or too low, replace the solenoid.
