Sudden movement or accidental starting of the machine can cause personal injury or death to persons on or near the machine.To prevent personal injury or death, perform the following:Park the machine on a smooth, level surface.Lower the work tool to the ground and engage the parking brake.Stop the engine and remove the key.Block the wheels and install the steering frame lock.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

B     6V-9833     Cap     2    The ride control valve can be the cause of excessive lift cylinder drift. This procedure will isolate the ride control valve in the hydraulic system and the procedure will check for lift cylinder drift.
Prepare the machine for testing and adjusting by completing the procedure that is specified in Testing and Adjusting, "Machine Preparation for Troubleshooting" for the machine that is being serviced.
Make sure that the hydraulic oil pressure is relieved from the hydraulic system by completing the procedure that is specified in Testing and Adjusting, "System Pressure - Release" for the machine that is being serviced.
Release the pressure in the ride control system. Do not start the engine. Turn the engine start switch key to the ON position and move the ride control switch to the ON position. Move the hydraulic control levers to all positions in order to release the pressure in the hydraulic system. Place the lift control lever in the FLOAT position. Place the tilt control lever in the HOLD position.
Turn the engine start switch key to the OFF position.

Ride Control Valve (4) Return line. (5) Line from accumulator.
Remove hose assembly (5) .
Install Tooling (A) in the end of hose assembly (5). Install Tooling (B) on the elbow.
Loosen top connection (3) of line assembly (2) .
Remove lower connection (4) from the oil return line to the manifold (1). Lower connection (4) is part of line assembly (2) .
Rotate line assembly (2) so the lower connection (4) moves away from the elbow. Tighten upper connection (3) .
Install Tooling (A) in the end of the line assembly (2). Install Tooling (B) on the elbow.
Start the engine and raise the bucket to the maximum height.
Place the lift control lever in the HOLD position and shut off the engine.
Measure the distance of rod movement in one minute. For a new lift cylinder, the maximum rod movement in
