Rear of Engine
(1) Coolant temperature sensorCoolant temperature sensor (1) is on the left rear of the engine. The top engine compartment door provides limited access to this sensor.Coolant temperature sensor (1) is a resistance type sensor. This sensor provides an input signal to the engine ECM.

Rear of Engine
(2) Intake manifold air temperature sensorThe intake manifold air temperature (IMAT) sensor (2) is on the rear side of the engine. The top engine compartment door provides limited access to the sensor.The intake manifold air temperature sensor (2) measures engine intake air temperature after the air has been cooled by the air-to-air aftercooler (ATAAC). This sensor provides an input signal to the engine ECM.

Right Side of Machine
(3) Ambient air temperature sensorAmbient air temperature sensor (3) is on the air filter housing shroud. The right compartment door provides access to this sensor.Ambient air temperature sensor (3) measures engine intake air temperature before the air has been heated by the turbocharger. This sensor provides an input signal to the engine ECM.Intake manifold temperature sensor (2) and ambient air temperature sensor (3) are used together to control engine intake air temperature. The engine ECM measures the difference between these two sensors. When the difference is less than 24 °C (75 °F), the fan speed is not affected. When the difference is 29 °C (84 °F), the fan speed is maximum. The engine ECM software ramps the fan speed between these temperatures.

Front of Engine
(4) Generator oil temperature sensorGenerator oil temperature sensor (4) is located in the generator sump, below the right side of the engine. The right hopper door provides access to the sensor.Generator oil temperature sensor (4) is an analog resistive sensor. The machine ECM monitors the temperature sensor.

Hydraulic Tank Graphic
(5) Hydraulic oil temperature senderHydraulic oil temperature sender (5) is installed in the front side of the hydraulic tank. The hydraulic tank is located behind the engine, under the operator platform.Hydraulic oil temperature sender (5) is a resistance device. The transmission ECM monitors the resistance through the sender to determine the hydraulic oil temperature. The sender data is sent to the engine ECM through the CAN bus.

(6) Cooling fan
(7) Cooling packageCooling package (7) is located below cooling fan (6). The engine compartment cover at the front of the machine provides access to components of the cooling package.Cooling package (7) contains the following components of the fan system:
Air-to-air aftercooler
Radiator
Hydraulic oil cooler
Integrated generator oil cooler
Fuel coolerWhen cooling fan (6) rotates, cool air is drawn from outside the machine and pulled across cooling package (7). Warm air exits toward the front of the machine.
