Modification Of Cover
(1) Modify 4T4569 Cover (4) [both] at the dimensions shown above.Installation Of Bearing Group
(1) Install the 7T8289 Cups in trunnion (1). Make sure the cup is in the bottom of the bore. Install the 7T8288 Cone in the cup and check for interference at location (A) [both sides]. Remove material (if necessary) at location (A) [all around] so that the cones rotate freely in the cups without contact between the cone race and/or cage and trunnion. (2) Install trunnion (1) in body (2) with both bearing cones (3) in position, and check for interference [all around] at location (B). Remove material (if necessary) from inside of body (2) until trunnion (1) can be assembled without interference. (3) Clean all parts. Put the trunnion, with the cones in place, inside of body (2). Install one of the covers with .38 mm (.015") of shims and no o-ring seal. Install the four bolts in the cover. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 45 N m (32 lb ft). Install the other cover (4) without shims and o-ring seal. Install the four bolts in the cover. Tighten the bolts evenly to a torque of 4.5 N m (40 lb in) while rotating the trunnion backward and forward. (4) Measure the gap between cover (4) and body (2) with feeler gauge (5) at the four bolt locations. Install shims that are the same thickness as the average gap measured plus .20 mm (.008"). If the thickness os the shims is less than .13 mm (.005") or more than .64 mm (.025"), add the thickness of the shims for cover (4) to the thickness of the shims for the other cover. Each cover should have approximately the same amount of shims.(5) Assemble the track motor. Follow the instructions provided by the Service Manual (SENR2458) where applicable, but install the rotors after the covers and shims have been installed.
