When submitting claim for Parts Stock Action, Use the appropriate 99Z as the s/n, the appropriate Service Letter Program Number as the Part number in the Part Causing Failure field, "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Description Code.
The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program.Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.

PROBLEM
The existing 388-9942, 388-9945, 388-9952 Oil Gauge Tube Assemblies that were manufactured on or before 29 May 2012 can break. If the existing guide tubes fail, they will break at the brazed joint on the flange.
ACTION REQUIRED
Inspect all 388-9942, 388-9945, 388-9952 Oil Gauge Tube Assemblies in dealer parts stock.
The date of manufacture is located on the CAT Part Number Identification Tag. The date of manufacture is recorded as a DAY, MONTH, YEAR (Dxx Mxx Yxx) format. Refer to Image1.
If the oil gauge tube assembly was manufactured after 29 May 2012, mark the package to indicate that the part has been inspected according to this program and return the part to dealer parts stock.
If the oil gauge tube assembly was manufactured on or before 29 May 2012, remove the part from dealer parts stock.
