COOLING SYSTEM COMPONENTS (MACHINES WITH RETARDER)
1. Radiator. 2. Water temperature regulators. 3. Retarder or brake oil cooler. 4. Coolant line from cylinder head to retarder oil cooler. 5. Oil cooler for engine oil. 6. Cylinder block. 7. Coolant bypass line. 8. Water pump. 9. Oil cooler for torque converter oil.Water pump (8) gets coolant from the bottom tank of radiator (1). Water pump (8) sends this coolant through oil cooler (9) and oil cooler (5) and then into the side of cylinder block (6). Coolant goes around the cylinder liners and up through the water directors into the cylinder head. In the cylinder head, the coolant circulates and cools the area around the precombustion chambers and the valves. Coolant then goes to the front of the cylinder head, through coolant line (4) into retarder or brake oil cooler (3). From retarder or brake oil cooler (3) coolant goes to the housing for water temperature regulators (2). If the coolant is cool (below normal operating temperature) the water temperature regulators will be closed and coolant will go through bypass line (7) and return to the water pump inlet. When the coolant reaches normal operating temperature, the water temperature regulators will open. With the water temperature regulators open, coolant goes from the water temperature regulator housing to the top tank of radiator (1), down through the radiator to be cooled, and then to the water pump inlet.

The electrical system is a combination of three separate electric circuits: the charging circuit, the starting circuit and the lighting circuit. Each circuit is dependent on some of the same components. The battery (batteries), disconnect switch, circuit breaker, ammeter, cables and wires from the battery are common in
