(G)     Drill two holes that have a diameter of
8.2 mm (0.32 inch). Drill the holes to a depth of
30 mm (1.2 inch). Use a 3/8 - 16 - 2B Tap to thread the holes. Tap the holes to a depth of
25.0 mm (0.98 inch).    Note: The 174-9065 Blocks may be fabricated. Make the blocks from mild steel with a minimum hardness of 140 MPa (20305 psi). See Illustration 1 and Table 2.
If necessary, drain the oil from the transmission tank. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7174, "789C Off-Highway Truck", "Transmission Tank Oil - Change".

Disconnect 174-2437 Hose As (H) from the transmission charge filter.
Remove the transmission charge filter (J) .Note: The weight of the charge filter is approximately 27 kg (60 lb).
Disconnect the wire harness.
Remove four 4L-6454 Bolts (K), four 8T-4896 Hard Washers (L), and 117-6179 Plate (M) .

Remove 165-4537 Tube As (N) .
Use a grinder to remove two 4D-6267 Blocks. Remove the existing weld. Use a grinder to blend the material to the original profile.Note: Do not use air arc gouging to remove the blocks.

Right side viewNote: Remove the paint from the area that will be welded.
Weld two 174-9065 Blocks (1) in the exact location as the previous blocks. Weld the long sides of each block. Use 6 mm (0.24 inch) fillet welds. See Illustration 4 and Table 3.

Use four 4L-6454 Bolts (K) and four 8T-4896 Hard Washers (L) to reinstall 117-6179 Plate (M) and the wire harness.
Install the transmission charge filter.

Install 212-5021 Tube As (2) .
Connect 174-2437 Hose As (H) .
Paint the welded area.
Check the oil level in the transmission system. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7174, "789C Off-Highway Truck", "Transmission Tank Oil Level - Check". If necessary, fill the transmission system with oil. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, SEBU7174, "789C Off-Highway Truck", "Transmission Tank Oil - Change".
