Start By:a. remove parking brake**This operation is in the 815F Compactor Machine Systems Disassembly & Assembly module, Form No. SENR1318. 1. Support front drive shaft (2) with a suitable stand to prevent damage to the drive shaft splines.2. Disconnect grease tube assembly (3) from fitting (2). 3. Remove six bolts (4) and the washers that hold the carrier bearing housings to the frame of the machine. 4. Using tooling (A), pull the carrier bearing housings off of the front drive shaft, and remove the unit from the machine. 5. Remove bolts (6) that hold carrier bearing housings (5) and (7) together.6. Separate carrier bearing housing (5) from carrier bearing housing (7). If necessary, use 5/83/4 two " - 11 NC X 1 " bolts as forcing screws to separate the carrier bearing housings. 7. Remove lip seal (8) from carrier bearing housing (5). 8. Remove O-ring seal (10) and bearing (9) from carrier bearing housing (7). 9. Remove lip seal (11) from carrier bearing housing (7). Install the front drive shaft carrier bearing in the following manner.10. Use tool (B) to install the lip seal in carrier bearing housings (5) and (7). Be sure the seal makes contact with the counterbore in the carrier bearing housing. 2. Put 5P0960 Multipurpose Grease on the lip of the seal in carrier bearing housing (7). Install the carrier bearing housing over the front drive shaft. 3. Install bearing (9) on the end of the front drive shaft. 4. Install O-ring seal (10) in carrier bearing housing (7). 5. Put 5P0960 Multipurpose Grease on the lip of the seal in carrier bearing housing (5). Install carrier bearing housing (5) over the end of the front drive shaft. Install the bolts and washers that hold the two carrier bearing housings together. It may be necessary to lower the temperature of the front splined portion of the front drive shaft to allow easy installation of the carrier bearing. 6. Use tooling (C) to pull shaft into housing and seat bearing.7. Install bolts (4) to hold the carrier bearing housings to the frame of the machine.8. Connect grease tube assembly (1) to the carrier bearing housing. 9. Reinstall yoke (12) for the center drive shaft. Temporarily install the O-ring seal, the retainer and the bolt that holds it in position.10. Fill the carrier bearing housings with 5P0960 Multipurpose Grease, and be sure no grease comes out between the lip seal and yoke into the area of the parking brake mounting. If there is leakage, a replacement of the lip seal must be made.11. Remove yoke (12). 12.
