A new 2474930/">247-4930 Lift Cylinder Piston with increased radius at the Piston/Rod shoulder and an improved manufacturing procedure at the assembly facility for the 2474930/">247-4930 Lift Cylinder Piston/Rod Assembly has been introduced. Refer to Image3.
If the 2474930/">247-4930 Lift Cylinder Piston is seized, or cracked, it is recommended that the affected lift cylinder be removed by the dealer following the guidelines published in KENR5832, Disassembly and Assembly. The cylinder must then transported to the dealer hydraulic repair facility.
Referring to KENR5832, Disassembly and Assembly, the dealer should disassemble the cylinder and remove the 2474930/">247-4930 Lift Cylinder Piston. Following the ?Salvage and Re-Use Guidelines for Caterpillar Hydraulic Cylinders?, and REHS2689, Special Instruction, "Hydraulic Cylinder Honing", the cylinder components should be inspected, replacing the existing 2474930/">247-4930 Lift Cylinder Piston with a new 2474930/">247-4930 Lift Cylinder Piston purchased through the Caterpillar Global Distribution Network. The new lift cylinder pistons have the improved radius, and any other components as required. The cylinder can now be reassembled and installed on the machine.
