Description of Change: A replacement fuel cap that features an improved venting system and an improved seal is available. The seal on the 140-3921 Cap can swell on the following machines: 303.5, 304 CR, 304.5 and 305 CR. This results in fuel leakage around the cap or blockage of the breather hole. This may cause the engine to run rough. The engine may stop in some cases.Adaptable To: The 086-1781 Cap As replaces the 140-3921 Cap. This cap also features a locking mechanism for use with a Caterpillar key. The replacement cap is adaptable with the following machines:

DSA1-1030The replacement cap was not used in production. The repair in production consisted of the installation of a 240-7602 Fuel Tank As. The 240-7602 Fuel Tank As is not compatible with the 086-1781 Cap As or the 140-3921 Cap. The 240-7602 Fuel Tank As uses a 120-8838 Filler Cap As. The 240-7602 Fuel Tank As is effective with the following machines:
