Introduction
This instruction provides the necessary information to install the 7X7700 Fuel Cap.Do not perform any procedure, outlined in this publication, or order any parts until you read and understand the information contained within.Installation
1. Clean the existing filler tube threads by removing all foreign material.2. Install the 9X2207 Adapter Kit on the filler tube until it seats against the end of the filler tube.3. Using a flat end punch, distort the threads on the filler tube at the three places provided by slots on the adapter.Fuel Cap Removal
Lift the lever up. Turn lever counterclockwise (left) until it stops. Lift cap straight up to remove.
(1) Tab. (2) Valve. (3) Filter. (4) Lever. (5) Lock tab.Fuel Cap Assembly
1. With the lever lifted and turned counterclockwise, rotate the fuel cap clockwise (right) until the three tabs drop into slots in the adapter. Rotate lever clockwise until it stops. Lower the lever over the lock tab.2. Replace the filter in the fuel cap at least every six months with a 9X2205 Filter Kit.3. To replace the filter, remove two screws that secure the filter to the fuel cap. Remove filter, valve and gaskets.4. Install new components in reverse order.
