Keep all parts clean from contaminants. Ensure that the area around the covers is thoroughly cleaned and all contaminants are removed, any contaminants will fall directly onto the camshaft. Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Note: Inspect all O-rings, seals, and gaskets for wear or damage. Replace if necessary.Start By:
Remove rocker shaft and push rods. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Rocker Shaft and Push Rod - Remove".
Remove the exhaust manifolds. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly,, "Exhaust Manifold - Remove and Install"

Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device at point (X),
Remove bolts (1) and remove valve lifter (2).

Remove integral seal (5).
Repeat steps 1 through 3 for the remaining valve lifters.
