Introduction
Proportional Hydraulic Modulation Valves (PHMV) control the oil flow from the drive pump and idler pump to the work tool. The bypass PHMV can be adjusted to control the maximum pressure of oil to a work tool. The advantages to adjusting the maximum pressure limit are reduced interference between multiple operations, and can reduce abnormal spikes in pump pressure during multiple operations.The following can have the pressure limit setting adjusted:

Attachment valve #1 idler pump pressureNote: After adjusting the maximum pressure limit setting, do NOT touch any implement levers for 5 seconds.Machine Preparation
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
The following procedures must be completed before performing the calibration.
Perform the main control valve calibration. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Main Control Valve - Calibrate" for the machine.
Perform the attachment #1 valve calibration. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Solenoid Valve (Proportional Reducing) - Calibrate (Attachment Valve #1)" for the machine.
Perform the Variable relief valve calibration. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Solenoid Valve (Proportional Reducing) - Calibrate (Variable Relief Valves)" for the tool control system for the machine.
Perform the main pump flow limit calibration. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Solenoid Valve (Proportional Reducing) - Calibrate (Main Pump Flow Limit)" for the tool control system for the machine.
Start the engine.
Increase the hydraulic oil temperature to 55° 5°C (131° 9°F). Calibration Procedure

Press the arrow keys on the monitor until the appropriate setting is selected. Refer to Table 3 for the operation. Press the "OK" key.
Using the arrow keys, adjust the pressure limit setting between 1 and 10. Refer to Table 1 for the default values of the appropriate setting. Press the "OK" key.
