General Hydraulics System Pressure Checks s/n 500 thru-
All tests and adjustments that require a running engine. The machine wheels must be blocked, brakes set, and two people are required, one at the controls and one to service the machine.
A. General System Pressure Check
1. Drill and tap lower elbow in the screed lift cylinder to accommodate a 1/8" NPSF pipe fitting. Insert a 2400 psi (16,548 kPa) gauge into the elbow. 2. With the unit running move the screed lift lever into forward to lift the screed to its maximum height. 3. The gauge should have a peak pressure of 1200 psi (8274 kPa).4. If the reading is below 1200 psi (8274 kPa) proceed to Item B.B. Dual Accessory Pump Pressure Check
1. Remove the line from the output port to be tested on the duel accessory pump and insert a flow/pressure tester with a restrictor valve and 2400 psi (16,548 kPa) pressure gauge. 2. Start the engine and run at full throttle.3. SLOWLY close restrictor valve.
Read flow meter instructions improper use of flow meter will damage pump.
4. If pressure doesn't come up to 1200 psi (8274 kPa) check the flow rate of the pump.C. Duel Accessory Pump Flow Test
1. Insert a flow meter as in the "Dual Accessory Pressure Test".2. Pump flow should be 14 gpm (52.99 lpm). If pump flow is low check inlet side of pump for some form of restriction. If clear repair or replace the steer pump.D. Cylinder Leakage Test
1. Start engine and run at full throttle. Select the cylinder you wish to test and move the cylinder control handle till the cylinder rod is completely extended.2. Disconnect the hose at the rod end (A). 3. After the initial flow has drained off no more than a trickle should issue from the port. If an excessive flow issues from the port the cylinder should be checked. E. Eight Bank Valve Relief Check
1. To check the relief for the auger motors, insert a restrictor flow meter a 2400 psi (16,548 kPa) pressure gauge between the front port of the left hand auger motor. 2. Start the engine and run at full throttle.3. Pull the left hand auger lever to the out position. 4. SLOWLY close the restrictor valve and observe the pressure gauge.
Read the flow meter instructions, improper use of the flow meter will damage the auger motor.
5. The hydraulic oil pressure should peak at about 1200 psi (8274 kPa).6. If the relief opens above or below 1200 psi (8274 kPa). The relief in the eight bank valve must be adjusted.7. If a restrictor flow meter is not available the following test may be used.8. Insert a 2400 psi (16,548 kPa) pressure gauge in the front port of the left auger motor. 9. Place a block of wood, large enough to stop the rotation of the auger, between the screed and the auger. 10. Start the unit and run at full throttle.11. Pull the left hand auger lever to the out position and observe the pressure
