The steel braided engine wiring harnesses can cause damage to the engine tubes if the engine wiring harness contacts the tube during normal engine operation. A steel braided engine wiring harnesses can also be damaged if the engine wiring harness contacts any sharp edges of the engine block or brackets. The engine wiring harnesses are secured at the factory with clips, brackets, spacers, and tie straps. This helps to eliminate contact with engine hardware. If a steel braided engine wiring harnesses is temporarily removed, be sure that the harness is properly reinstalled. Be sure that there is no contact between the harness and other engine components. One area of concern is near the wiring harness termination points at the bottom of the engine junction box. The G3608 engine junction box is engine mounted. The wiring harness enters the bottom of the junction box. This results in the least clearance space for the engine wiring harness. The wiring harness routing in this area should be reviewed. Be sure that there is no contact between the wiring harness and engine components. Other areas of concern are near the front and rear of the engine. The engine wiring harness bundles go from one side to the other side in these areas. Proper attention to routing and securing the steel braided engine wiring harnesses will eliminate potential damage to the wiring harness and other engine components.
