Use the following information to inspect the 140-1289 Mounts for damage. Inspect the mounts for damage to the rubber and inspect the bond between the steel plates and the rubber. A chart is provided in order to record the information for each mount. Use a steel rule in order to measure the wear or the damage.

Measure the depth of all cracks from the edge of the steel plates (1) toward the center.Major damage is defined as a crack that extends over 25% of the circumference of the mount that has a maximum depth in excess of 35 mm (1.38 inch).A crack can be a split in the rubber or a failure of the bond between the rubber and the steel plate.The mounts are serviceable if cracks are present in no more than three sections of rubber.The mount should not be used if any of the following conditions occur:
Major damage is present in more than three sections of rubber (2) .
The depth of any crack is greater than 70 mm (2.75 inch).
Any of the steel plates (1) are cracked.To inspect the mounts, use a suitable lifting device under the equalizer arm. Raise the arm until the mount that is being inspected is fully extended.

(1) The number of the layer is counted from the top of the mount. (2) Note the position and the extent of damage for each layer. (3) Measure the maximum depth of the crack from the edge of the steel plate.
