start by: a) remove timing gear coverb) remove fuel injection pump housing and governor as a unitc) remove fuel transfer pumpd) remove fuel filter housing 1. Disconnect all fuel and oil lines from the accessory drive housing (1).2. Remove the nut and washer that hold drive gear on shaft. 3. Remove the drive gear from shaft with tool setup (A). Remove the sleeve from shaft. 4. Remove the four bolts (2), two locks, and retainer (3) that hold accessory drive housing to timing gear plate.5. Remove the accessory drive housing.6. Remove the accessory drive shaft from housing. 7. Remove bearing (4) from the shaft with tool setup (B).Install Accessory Drive Housing And Shaft
1. Heat the bearing for the shaft in oil at a maximum temperature of 300°F (149°C). Install the bearing on the shaft. 2. Install the shaft (1) in the accessory drive housing. 3. Put the housing (2) in position on the engine. Install the retainer, locks and fastening bolts. 4. Put the sleeve (3) on the shaft. Install the drive gear (4) on the shaft. 5. Install the washer and nut (5) that holds gear on shaft. Do not tighten nut until timing adjustment is made to accessory drive shaft as given in INSTALL FUEL INJECTION PUMP HOUSING AND GOVERNOR.6.
