Autoshift Machines
To Disable 4th Gear
1. At the large wiring connector that connects to the autoshift control, remove wire 965-WH (contact #12) from the connector.2. Step 1 created a hole in the connector where the wire was removed. Plug the hole with an 8T-8737 Plug.3. Splice wire 965-WH to wire 966-GY that goes to connector contact #13.4. Solder the splice, and protect the area with 1P-0810 Tape. This procedure causes the autoshift control to think the operator has selected "3", whether he has actually selected "3" or "4".
To Disable 3rd And 4th Gears
1. Perform the preceding procedure, Autoshift - To Disable 4th Gear, and make the specified modifications.2. At the large wiring connector that connects to the autoshift control, remove wire 972-BU (contact #17) from the connector.3. Step 2 created a hole in the connector where the wire was removed. Plug the hole with an 8T-8737 Plug.4. Splice wire 972-BU to wire 971-YL that goes to connector contact #16.5. Solder the splice, and protect the area with 1P-810 Tape. This procedure causes the autoshift control to think the operator has selected "2", when he has actually selected "2", "3", or "4".
Do not disable 3rd gear without also disabling 4th gear. An incorrect combination of inputs will exist and a fault code will be generated. The transmission will not shift automatically.Non-Autoshift Machines
To Disable 4th Gear
The shift handle has two harness connectors. Various shift handles with different harness connectors are used on the machines. For this procedure the wire ID (wire #) is the main factor. The connector contact that corresponds to the wire ID is not the same on all machines.
Locate the two harness connectors of the shift handle. Modifications will be made to the harness and connectors of the shift handle. When instructed to remove a wire from the connector, remove the corresponding connector contact and the wire from the connector.
1. Remove wire 751-GN from the connector.2. Splice wire 751-GN to wire 754-BU in the harness.3. Remove wire 921-WH from the connector.4. Splice wire 921-WH to wire 923-GY in the harness.5. Solder the splices and protect the areas with 1P-0810 Tape.6. Plug the connector holes where the wires were removed, with 8T-8737 Plug-DT or 9G-3695 Plug-SS.This procedure causes the transmission to remain in 3rd gear when it would otherwise go into 4th gear.
