Transmission Switch Retrofit Procedures For Small Off Highway Trucks And Scrapers.
Description
The new 118-8471 Switch is a direct replacement for the former 6V5828 Switch, however, the new switch requires a DC power source. The former 7T3418 Transmission Harness is replaced by a 120-9288 Harness. A retrofit harness (127-4872) will provide 24 volt power from a source located at or near the EPTC/EPTC II (trans control). The retrofit harness is inserted between the connectors for the transmission chassis harness and the transmission switch harness (located at the bulkhead connector on the transmission side manifold). A single lead (harness) is then routed parallel to the transmission chassis harness to the 24 volt power source at the transmission control. Do not use power from the transmission speed sensor harness for the transmission switch.
Installation Procedure
1. Disconnect the bulkhead connector between the transmission switch harness and the transmission chassis harness. Remove the old switch (6V5828) and harness (7T3418).2. Install the new switch (118-8471) and harness (120-9288).3. Install the 127-4872 retrofit harness. Connect one end of the "T" portion of the
