Introduction
This special instruction contains the necessary procedures and information for the installation and removal of the rock bucket mechanically attached adapter (MAA) system and the lug welding procedure for 994 Wheel Loaders. The mechanically attached adapter (MAA) system consists of three parts, the adapter, the clamp assembly, and the wedge. This installation procedure should be used as a reference to install the different sized MAA systems available.Do not perform any procedure, outlined in this publication, or order any parts until you read and understand the information contained within.
Do not attempt to assemble the adapter until you read and understand the assembly instructions. Improper procedures could result in injury or death.

Wear safety glasses with protective side shields. Personal injury may occur if proper safety equipment is not worn.
1. All mating surfaces should be clean and free of rust and dirt.2. Slide center adapters (4) on base edge at a cavity location.3. Insert the c-clamp assembly (2) with the wear indicator and arm down into base edge cavity and push to the rear of the cavity.4. Insert one wedge (1) between the c-clamp assembly (2) and base edge with the small end first. The wedge serrations should be facing the c-clamp assembly (2). Drive the wedge (1) with a hammer until the wedge (1) is fully set. Retighten after several passes. Burn off the portion of the wedge (1) protruding below the c-clamp assembly (2) on the bottom of the bucket leaving 6.350 mm (.25 in) protruding. It is not necessary to burn off the top of the wedge (1) protruding above the c-clamp assembly (2). Note orientation of wedge (1) in illustration 2.5. Insert one c-clamp assembly (2) in each corner adapter with the wear indicator to the outside of the bucket corner cavity and push toward the rear of the cavity. The thinner portion of the c-clamp assembly (2) should be on the inside of the bucket with the Abrasion Resistant Material toward the outside. Note orientation of c-clamp assembly (2) in Illustration 1.6. Insert one wedge (1) between the c-clamp assembly (2) and corner adapter (3), smallest end to the bucket outside with the serrated edge toward the c-clamp assembly (2). Drive the wedge (1) with a sledge hammer from the inside of the bucket until it is totally secure. Retighten after several passes. Burn the portion of the wedge (1) that protrudes beyond the c-clamp assembly (2) on the inside and outside edge of the bucket leaving 6.4 mm (.25 in) protruding.7. Wedges (1) should be checked periodically for tightness. If loose wedges (1) and c-clamp assemblies (2) are observed, tighten immediately, if loosening persists, tack weld the wedge (1) to the c-clamp assembly (2) on the top side of the center adapter (4) and the inside of the
