At operating temperature, the hydraulic oil is hot and under pressure. Hot oil can cause burns. To prevent possible personal injury, release the pressure in the hydraulic system before any hydraulic lines or components are disconnected or removed.
1. Release the pressure in the hydraulic system.2. Drain the oil from the hydraulic tank into a suitable container for storage or disposal. The capacity of the hydraulic tank is 200 liters (53 U.S. gal).
At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressure. Steam can cause personal injury. Check the coolant level only after the engine has been stopped and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. Remove the fill cap slowly to release the pressure in the cooling system. Cooling system conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with skin and eyes to prevent personal injury.
3. Release the pressure in the cooling system by slowly loosening the fill cap on the radiator. Drain the coolant from the cooling system by placing a drain hose through the hole in the back of the bumper and opening the drain valve. Drain the coolant into a suitable container for storage or disposal. The capacity of the cooling system is 63 liters (17 U.S. gal).4. Remove the crankcase guard from under the engine.
View From Under Machine5. Disconnect hose assemblies (3) and (4) from the brake oil cooler. Put plugs in the ends of the hose assemblies and the brake oil cooler to prevent oil loss and to keep dirt out of the hydraulic system.6. Disconnect wiring harness (1) from the mounting bracket for the brake oil cooler.7. Put a suitable floor jack in position under the brake oil cooler. Fasten the cooler to the floor jack.8. Remove four bolts (2) and the washers that hold the brake oil cooler to the transmission oil cooler.
View From Under Machine9. Remove two bolts (5) and the washers that hold the mounting bracket for the brake oil cooler to the engine. Lower brake oil cooler (6) out from under the machine. Cover the end of the transmission oil cooler to prevent oil loss.10. Remove the gasket from the bonnet on the brake oil cooler.11. If necessary, remove the bonnet from each end of the brake oil cooler core. Clean the tube bundles in the cooler core with an appropriate size diameter rod. Do not damage the tube bundles. The following steps are for the installation of the brake oil cooler.12. Check the condition of all parts of the brake oil cooler group. If any of the parts are damaged, use new parts for replacement.13. Install the brake oil cooler in the reverse order of removal.14. Install the crankcase guard under the engine.15. Fill the cooling system with coolant and the hydraulic tank with oil to the correct levels. See the Operation & Maintenance Manual for the correct filling procedures.
