Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.

Disconnect hose assembly (1). Position hose assembly (1) aside.

Disconnect harness assembly (3). Remove clips (2).

Use two people in order to remove block (8) and the tube assembly. Disconnect hose assemblies (9).

Install Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to main control valve (11). The weight of main control valve (11) is approximately 204 kg (450 lb). Install Tooling (B) and Tooling (C) to the pinion housing in order to remove main control valve (11).

Remove bolts (12). Remove main control valve (11).
