Removal Procedure
Start By:
Install the wheel chocks. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Wheel Chock (Front and Rear) - Remove and Install".
Connect the frame lock link. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Frame Lock Link - Separate and Connect".
Remove the input drive shaft. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Input Drive Shaft - Remove and Install".
Remove the power train guard. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Power train Guard (Transmission) - Remove and Install".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Drain the output transfer gear case into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Transmission Oil - Change".

Disconnect hose assembly (1) .

Attach a suitable lifting device onto input transfer gear (2). The weight of input transfer gear (2) is approximately 191 kg (420 lb).
Remove bolts (3). Remove input transfer gear case (2) and the O-ring seal from the output transfer gear case.
