(3) Transmission direction control switch (4) Transmission speed switchThe ECM automatically shifts the transmission if the autoshift switch (1) is in one of the four AUTO positions. And, the left brake pedal fully released. The ECM evaluates the input that is sent from the engine speed sensor, transmission speed sensors, the torque converter output speed sensor, and the left brake pedal position sensor in order to regulate transmission shifts. The ECM does not allow automatic upshifts to a speed that is higher than the speed that is selected with the autoshift switch. An automatic downshift from second speed to first speed occurs if the autoshift switch is in the "1-2,1-3,or 1-4" position. The following modes can be selected with the auto/manual transmission select button:
Manual – Manual shifting mode. No indicators will be illuminated.
Auto 2-4 – Autoshifting from gears 2 to 4. No auto downshift to first gear. Indicators B, C, D will be illuminated.
Auto 1-4 – Autoshifting from gears 1 to 4. First gear downshift is based on torque required. Indicators A, B, C, D will be illuminated.
Auto 1-3 – Autoshifting from gears 1 to 3. First gear downshift is based on torque required. Indicators A, B, C will be illuminated.
Auto 1-2 – Autoshifting from gears 1 to 2. First gear downshift is based on torque required. Indicators A, B will be illuminated.Note: The auto/manual maximum gear will not exceed the maximum forward gear or the maximum reverse gear setting configured in the software. The machine can be electronically adjusted by a Cat dealer.

( 1 ) The speeds that are listed are approximate. The speeds that are listed should be used for reference only. The operator can override the autoshift function by depressing the bottom of the transmission speed switch (4). The operator must perform one of the following procedures in order to resume automatic upshifts. Either press the top of the transmission speed switch in order to upshift the transmission. Or, choose a different direction of travel by using the transmission direction control switch. Momentarily depressing the bottom of the transmission speed switch (4) signals the power train ECM to downshift the transmission by one speed. Depressing and holding the bottom of the transmission speed switch signals the power train ECM
