Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the fan guards. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Fan Guards - Remove and Install".
Remove the belt. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Belt - Remove and Install".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
At operating temperature, the engine coolant is hot and under pressure.Steam can cause personal injury.Check the coolant level only after the engine has been stopped and the fill cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand.Remove the fill cap slowly to relieve pressure.Cooling system conditioner contains alkali. Avoid contact with the skin and eyes to prevent personal injury.

Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or disposal. The capacity of the cooling system is approximately 35 L (9.2 US gal). Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Extended Life Coolant - Change" for the machine that is being serviced.

Remove bolts (2) from air conditioner compressor (1). Move the refrigerant compressor out of the way.

Remove bolts (3) and bolts (5) from bracket (4). Remove bracket (4) .

Loosen hose clamps (6) on hose (7) on the top of the water pump.

Loosen clamp (11) and disconnect hose (13) from the water pump.
Loosen clamp (10) and disconnect hose (12) from the water pump.
Remove bolts (9). Remove water pump (8) from hose (7) and the engine.
Remove the O-ring seals from the water pump.Installation Procedure
Note: Check the O-ring seals for wear or for damage. Replace the O-ring seals, if necessary.
Install the O-ring seals to the water pump.

Position water pump (8) to hose (7) and the engine. Install bolts (9) .
Connect hose (12) and tighten clamp (10) .
Connect hose (13) and tighten clamp (11) .

Position hose clamps (6) on hose (7) on the water pump. Tighten the clamps.

Install bracket (4) with bolts (3) and bolts (5) .

Move the refrigerant compressor to the bracket. Install bolts (2) in order to secure air conditioner compressor (1) .
Fill the cooling system. The capacity of the cooling system is approximately 35 L (9.2 US gal). Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Extended Life Coolant - Change" for the machine that is being serviced.End By:
