BOLT A 1017082 - Caterpillar

All grease, paint, and foreign objects must be removed before welding. Any of these materials will discharge gas which will cause porosity in the weld deposit. Water and rust will cause hydrogen embrittlement. Hydrogen embrittlement causes cracks in the weld deposit.Remove foreign objects with a wire brush, a buffer, or a grinder. Shot blasting the appropriate areas will also remove foreign material.Note: After welding, allow all areas to cool to room temperature. After the areas have cooled, paint the area with primer. After the primer has dried, coat the area with Cat 4C-4200 Yellow Paint .Required Parts List

Remove existing third valve guard from each lift arm (8).
Remove existing right-hand and left-hand third valve tube (9). Retain hardware and clamps.

Remove three existing bosses (A) from each lift arm.

Locate and weld the three new tapped Bosses (4) on each lift arm.
Allow the welded area to cool.
Prepare the welded are for paint.
Apply a rust prevention coat and a finish coat.

Install O-ring seals (6) in tube assembly (1) .Install tube assembly (1) on the right side with the existing hardware and clamps. Connect tube assembly (1) to the existing lines.
Install cover assembly (3) with washers (5) and bolts (7) .
Repeat Steps 8 and 9 with tube assembly (2) for the left-hand side.
Tighten all fittings and hardware.
