Check the threaded hole in the end of pin assembly (9) . The threaded hole must be clean in order to install Tool (B) .
Fasten Tool (B) to the threaded hole in the end of pin assembly (9) .
Fasten two lifting straps and a suitable lifting device to boom pin assembly (9) for support. The weight of pin assembly (9) is approximately 61 kg (135 lb) .
Apply 5P-0960 Molybdenum Grease on the outside diameter of boom pin assembly (9) .
Put the boom pin assembly (9) into the left hand side of the boom pin bore at the stick pin joint. Use a suitable hammer to drive boom pin assembly (9) partially into the pin boom joint. Remove the two lifting straps and the hoist from pin assembly (9) . Use a hammer to drive boom pin assembly (9) into the pin joint.
Install boom pin assembly retaining bolt (10) .Note: Adjust lateral clearance between the boom and the stick at the pin joint. The lateral clearance between these two components must not be more than 1.6 mm (0.06 inch).

Slide the stick to one side until the stick makes contact with the boom. Measure the total clearance between the stick and the boom at the pin bore. Record total clearance measurement (A) . The total clearance must not be more than 1.6 mm (0.06 inch) .
If the total clearance measurement is less than 1.6 mm (0.06 inch) you will not be required to add shims between the stick and the boom.
If the clearance measurement is more than 1.6 mm (0.06 inch) you will be required to add shims. Use measurement (A) that was recorded in Step 18 to calculate the shims that need to be installed between the stick and the boom.Note: If you have determined that shims need to be installed between the stick and the boom you will need to remove pin assembly (9) . Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Stick - Remove". The information is in this manual.
Remove pin assembly (9) .
Install the shims between the stick and the boom. Install the shims on the cab side of the stick between the stick and the boom at the pin bores. You may need to move the stick in order to align the pin bores of the stick with the boom pin bores.
Refer to Steps 12 to 18 in order to install pin assembly (9) in the boom.
Install pin assembly (9) .
Remove the hoist, the lifting strap and the clevis from the lug on top of the stick.
Start the machine. Raise the boom and the stick to a suitable position for connecting the hose assemblies to the tube assemblies that are located between the stick and the boom.
Remove
