Introduction
This procedure provides the method used to check and adjust the tension of the conveyor drag chains.Test Preparation
Drive the machine to a smooth, horizontal surface.

Move propel lever (4) to the NEUTRAL position.
Press parking brake switch (3) to change the status of the parking brake to "engaged". When the parking brake status is "engaged", an LED next to the parking brake switch will be illuminated.
Use travel mode switch (2) to select the PAVE mode. When the travel mode switch is set to PAVE mode, an LED next to pave symbol (1) will be illuminated.Note: The machine must be in PAVE mode to operate the screed lift system, hopper system, apron system, and auger lift system.

Press left hopper lower switch (5) and right hopper lower switch (6). Fully lower the hoppers.

Use screed float switch (8) to place the screed in the FLOAT position. When the screed is in the FLOAT position, an LED next to the screed float switch will illuminate. Lower the screed to the ground.
Press rpm decrease switch (9) for the throttle control once to operate the engine in low idle.

Shut off the engine. Either place machine power switch (10) in the OFF position or press and hold push to start switch (7) for 3 seconds. An LED next to the push to start switch will flash when the engine is in shutdown mode.
If the engine was shut down using push to start switch (7), move machine power switch (10) to the OFF position.Check Procedure

Check the amount of chain slack on the bottom of the drag conveyor. If any part of chain (11) hangs below level of main frame (12), go to the Adjustment Procedure.Adjustment Procedure

Raise apron access panels (13).

Secure apron access panels (13) with lock (14).

If the machine is equipped with a power apron, raise the power apron. Press the apron raise switch (15) to raise the apron.

Securely block apron (16) once the apron is in the raised position.

Remove cotter pin (17) from adjusting rod (20). Remove the adjusting rod from take-up shaft (18) and take-up shaft (19).
Alternately adjust take-up shaft (18) and take-up shaft (19) until the sag in the drag conveyor chain is removed. Use adjusting rod (20) to turn the take-up shafts counterclockwise until the chain is tight.
Take-up shaft (18) and take-up shaft (19) must be tightened equally.Note: When the chain is under the correct tension, the bottom of the chain will be level with the bottom edge of the machine frame. The chain should not fall below the main frame for the entire length of the chain.
Replace adjusting rod (20). Install cotter pin (17).
Unlock and lower access panels (13).

If the machine is equipped with a power apron, remove the block from apron (16). Press apron lower switch (21) to lower the apron.
