Remove the exhaust manifold shields. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Exhaust Manifold Shield - Remove and Install".
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Personal injury or death can occur from not following the proper procedure or the recommended tooling.To prevent the possibility of injury or death, follow the established procedure using the recommended tooling.
Before you remove the air intake shutoff, pull the trip knob on the air intake shutoff or press the emergency stop button in order to release the blade latch. If the blade latch is released after the air intake shutoff is removed, serious personal injury can result.
Pull the emergency knob on the air intake shutoff or press the emergency stop button in order to release the blade latch on the air inlet shutoff.
Drain the coolant from the cooling system into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change".

Remove tube assembly (1).
Disconnect tube assembly (2). Remove the gasket.

Remove oil supply tube assembly (3). Remove the O-ring seal.
Disconnect oil drain tube assembly (4). Remove the gasket.

Remove bolts (6) from the turbocharger. Disconnect bellows (5) on the exhaust manifold from the turbocharger. Remove the gasket.

Remove bolts (7) from the turbocharger. Disconnect elbow (8) from the turbocharger. Remove the gasket.

Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to turbocharger (9). The weight of turbocharger (9) is approximately 400 kg (880 lb). Remove bolts (10) that hold turbocharger (9) to the support and remove the turbocharger.
