Removal Procedure
Start By:
Release the hydraulic system pressure.
Remove the air cleaner.
Hot oil and components can cause personal injury.Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.
Personal injury can result from hot oil spray and raised work tools.Make sure all the work tools have been lowered, the oil is cool and the pressure has been released from the hydraulic system before removing any components or lines.Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, PERJ1017, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Drain the hydraulic oil. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic System Oil- Change" for the correct draining and filling procedures.

Remove bolts (1) and the washers. Remove panels (2) and (3).

Remove bolts (4) and the washers. Remove hose assemblies (5) and (6).

Remove bolts (7) and the washers. Remove plate (8). Remove hose assembly (9).

Remove bolts (10) and the washers. Remove hose assembly (11).

Remove hose assemblies (12), (13), and (14). Remove elbow fitting (15).

Attach suitable lifting device to piston pump (16). The weight of the piston pump (16) is approximately 32 kg (71 lb). Remove bolts (17) and the washers. Remove piston pump (16).Installation Procedure
Install piston pump (16) in the reverse order of removal.
