There are two different procedures to follow for breaking in newly installed pistons and/or piston pins. One procedure covers if an engine is out of the hull and can be hooked up to a dynometer to run. The other procedure is for an engine that has been repaired while remaining in the hull. Make sure to choose the appropriate procedure depending upon the situation.Break-In Procedure Using Dynometer
Table 1 contains the settings and duration that the engine should be set on the dynometer to allow for sufficient break-in for the pistons and/or piston pins.
