26. Remove bearing cone (37) from the case assembly with tooling (D).Assemble Differential And Bevel Gear (825C & 826C)
TYPICAL EXAMPLE1. Make sure the flange of case (3) and the surface of gear (4) are clean and free of burrs.2. Heat gear (4) in oil to a maximum temperature of 275°F (135°C). Install the gear on case (3) with the mark on the gear in alignment with the mark on the case.3. Put oil on the threads of bolts (1) and the face of washers (2) that hold gear (4) to case (3). Install the bolts and washers. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 210 15 lb.ft. (284 20 N m). Install the lockwire on the bolts.

If a new gear and/or case are to be installed, install dowels with the following procedure: a) Fasten the gear to the case.b) Make dowel holes (5) larger with a reamer to a diameter of .8640 .0005 in. (21.946 0.013 N m).c) Install the dowels (6). The dowels must be even with the face of the differential case. Make sure the four dowels inside of case are installed so they extend .118 .031 in. (3.0 0.8 mm).5. Heat the bearing cone in oil to a maximum temperature of 275°F (135°C) and install it on case (3). 6. Install washer (8) and gear (7) in the case assembly. 7. Install bearings (10), gears (11) and washers (12) on spider (9).
Make a replacement of thrust washers for the pinions as a set.
8. Install the spider and gear assembly (13) in the case assembly. 9. Install washer (14) on the gear.10. Put gear (15) in position in the case assembly. 11. Install case (16) on the case assembly. Make sure the mark on the case is in alignment with the mark on the case assembly. Install the bolts that hold the case to the case assembly. Tighten the bolts to a torque of 195 18 lb.ft. (265 25 N m). 12. Heat the bearing cone to a maximum temperature of 275°F (135°C). Install bearing (17) on the case. 13. Put carrier assembly (18) in position on tooling (A) as shown.14. Install bearing cap (20) on the carrier.15. Install adjustment ring (21) and bearing cup (19) in the carrier assembly. 16. Install tooling (B) on the differential as shown. Fasten a hoist to the differential. Put differential (22) in position in the carrier assembly. 17. Install bearing cap (25) on the carrier assembly.18. Install bearing cup (24).19. Install adjustment ring (23). 20. Lower the temperature of bearing cups (26). Install bearing cups (26) in the housing. 21. Heat the bearing cone to a maximum temperature of 275°F (135°C). Install bearing cone (28) on pinion shaft (27). 22. Install O-ring seal (29) on the housing. Put a small amount of SAE 30 oil on the seal. 23. Install two 1/2"-13 NC forged eyebolts (30) in the housing. Fasten a hoist to the housing. Install housing (31)
