Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the hood.
Cylinders equipped with lock valves can remain pressurized for very long periods of time, even with the hoses removed.Failure to relieve pressure before removing a lock valve or disassembling a cylinder can result in personal injury or death.Ensure all pressure is relieved before removing a lock valve or disassembling a cylinder.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Remove cover assembly (1) .

Disconnect hose assembly (2) from hood tilt cylinder (4). Disconnect clip (3) .

Disconnect hose assembly (5). Remove the cotter pin and pin (6). Remove hood tilt cylinder (4) .
Repeat Steps 1 through 3 for the opposite side of the machine.Installation Procedure
Install hood tilt cylinder (4) in the reverse order of removal.
