Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Drain the engine oil into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Oil and Filter - Change".

Remove tube assemblies (1) from engine oil pan (3) .Note: Depending on your engine configuration the weight of the engine oil pan (3) can be approximately between 21 kg (47 lb) and 184 kg (405 lb).
Use Tooling (A) to support engine oil pan (3) . The weight of engine oil pan (3) is approximately 184 kg (405 lb).
Remove bolts (2) . Remove engine oil pan (3) and the gasket.Installation Procedure

Note: Depending on your engine configuration the weight of the engine oil pan (3) can be approximately between 21 kg (47 lb) and 184 kg (405 lb).
Use Tooling (A) to support engine oil pan (3) . The weight of engine oil pan (3) is approximately 184 kg (405 lb).
Position the gasket and engine oil pan (3) on the engine. Install bolts (2) .Note: If the oil drain plugs were removed, install the oil drain plugs. Tighten the oil drain plugs to a torque of 80 10 N m (59 7 lb ft).
Install tube assemblies (1) on engine oil pan (3) .
Fill the engine with engine oil to the correct level. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Oil and Filter - Change".
