The 953C 2ZN1750-UP Track Loader is equipped with variable displacement piston pumps and piston motors. The electronic control module (ECM) regulates the displacement of both the drive pumps and drive motors in order to control the machine speed. The 953C requires less oil flow in order to achieve the high speeds that increase power train efficiency.

The parking brakes are not used to stop the machine. Slowing or stopping the machine is done by reducing or stopping the flow of oil from the drive pumps to the drive motors. Braking of the machine is caused by hydrostatic braking of the motors that drive the tracks. When the machine has stopped, the spring applied parking brakes are applied.
