Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the water temperature regulator housing for the engine oil coolers.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Drain the engine oil from the engine oil coolers. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Oil - Change" for the correct draining and filling procedures.

Remove bolts (1) and elbows (2). Remove and inspect the gaskets and the seals and replace as necessary.

Remove bolts (3) and (5) and remove tube and elbow assembly (4). Remove and inspect the gaskets and the seals and replace as necessary.

Attach a suitable lifting device to engine oil coolers (7). The weight of engine oil coolers (7) is approximately 263 kg (580 lb).
Remove bolts (6) and remove engine oil cooler (7). Installation Procedure
Install engine oil coolers (7) in the reverse order of removal.
Lubricate the O-ring seals with clean unused engine oil.
