Assembly Procedure
Inspect the condition of the O-ring seals. Replace the seals, if necessary.

Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily injury.To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure and wear protective equipment.
Install retainer (36), plunger (35), spring (34), spacer (33), and retainer (32) into oil filter base (20) .
Position cover (30) and O-ring seal (31) on oil filter base (20) .
Install bolts (28) and washers (29) that hold cover (30) .

Install plug (26) and O-ring seal (27) into oil filter base (20) .
Install the following items into oil filter base (20) : oil pump bypass valve (21), retainer (22), spring (23), spacer (24) and retainer (25) .
Install bolts (16), washers (17), cover (18), and O-ring seal (19) into oil filter base (20) .
Install retainer (15), plunger (14), spring (13), spacer (12), and retainer (11) into oil filter base (20) .
Position cover (9) and O-ring seal (10) on oil filter base (20) .
Install bolts (7) and washers (8) that hold cover (9) .

Install the relief valve assembly.
Install spacer (5) on bolt (2) .
Install the following items into the oil filter base: retainer (6), spring (4), seat (3) and bolt (2) .
Install O-ring seals (1) into the oil filter base.
Install the O-rings. Install the adapter and the covers onto the oil filter base.End By: Install the engine oil filter base. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Filter Base - Install".
