Description of Change: A new 90 degree thermocouple is used for the turbocharger inlet and turbocharger outlet temperature. This thermocouple replaces the straight thermocouples that are now used in all G3600 engines. The new thermocouple will provide increased service life and better reliability. All of the components of the new thermocouple are available for parts service.Adaptable To: The new 310-4795 Temperature Sensor Gp is a replacement for the former 116-2649 Temperature Sensor Gp. The thermocouple is installed in the outlet of turbocharger. The new 310-4796 Temperature Sensor Gp is a replacement for the former 116-2649 Temperature Sensor Gp. The thermocouple is installed in the exhaust manifold before the turbocharger. Refer to Table 1 below for affected groups.Use the following procedure In order to install the new 310-4795 Temperature Sensor Gp onto the exhaust stack of engines that were built prior to the effective date.
Remove the 116-2649 Temperature Sensor Gp .
Install a 5N-2126 Adapter into the existing 6B-5072 Reducing Bushing .
Install the 310-4795 Temperature Sensor Gp .Use the following procedure In order to install the new 310-4796 Temperature Sensor Gp onto the exhaust manifold of engines that were built prior to the effective date.
Remove the 116-2649 Temperature Sensor Gp .
Install a 5N-2126 Adapter into the existing 4P-0419 Adapter .
Install the 310-4796 Temperature Sensor Gp .

(5) 310-4795 Temperature Sensor Gp A 4P-8134 Clip must be added to the rear of the water manifold. This clip will support the thermocouple wire. On G3612 and G3616 Engines, a 4P-8134 Clip must also be installed onto the support bracket for the linkage of the choke. Use 9X-6772 Cable Straps in order to secure the thermocouple wires to the clips. Refer to Illustrations 1 and 2.The silicone insulator that is used to seal the end of the body of the thermocouple must be positioned outside of the exhaust insulation in order to prevent damage to the thermocouple.
