When submitting claim for Parts Stock Action, Use the appropriate 99Z as the s/n, the appropriate Service Letter Program Number as the Part number in the Part Causing Failure field, "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Description Code.
The information supplied in this service letter may not be valid after the termination date of this program.Do not perform the work outlined in this Service Letter after the termination date without first contacting your Caterpillar product analyst.
This Revised Service Letter replaces the 12Jul2012 Service Letter. Changes have been made to the Problem and Action Required.

PROBLEM
10R-4359, 10R-5984, 10R-9548,10R-9547, 10R-5985, and 10R-9549 Cylinder Heads may have had the rust prohibitive applied improperly. This can lead to corrosion on the bottom deck of the cylinder head after a period of time.
ACTION REQUIRED
Inspect all 10R-4359, 10R-5984, 10R-9548, and 10R-9547 Cylinder Heads (Image1) for corrosion/rust in dealer parts stock that were manufactured from 01Jan2012 to 02Jul2012.
Inspect all 10R-5985 and 10R-9549 Cylinder Heads (Image 1) for corrosion/rust in dealer parts stock that were manufactured from 01Jun2012 to 02Jul2012.
The 10R-4359, 10R-5984, 10R-9548, and 10R-9547 Cylinder Heads are also used in the overhaul kits shown in Image2. The cylinder heads must be removed from the kits and inspected.
Check the package label date code that is located on the outside of the package to determine the manufacturing date. An example of how to interpret the date code is shown in Image3.
If the cylinder head has a package label date code from the manufactured dates that are listed above and corrosion/rust is not found, mark the packaging to indicate it has been inspected according to this program and return the cylinder head to dealer parts stock.
If the cylinder head has a package label date code from the manufactured dates that are listed above and corrosion/rust is found, remove the cylinder head from dealer parts stock. If the cylinder head was part of the overhaul kit, return only the cylinder head.

SERVICE CLAIM ALLOWANCES
Submit one claim for all parts removed from dealer parts stock.0.25 hours will be allowed for each cylinder head that is inspected in dealer parts stock.0.75 hours will be allowed for each cylinder head that is included in a overhaul kit that is inspected in dealer parts stock.
PARTS DISPOSITION

Hold all cylinder heads for a Parts Return Request (PRR). A Parts Return Request (PRR) will be issued to you through the Send-It-Back process after the claim is submitted. Make sure to list the service letter program number on the packing slip and include the closed work order paperwork.
***** EAME, LACD, and APD *****
Hold all cylinder heads for 30 days for a possible Parts Return Request (PRR). Make sure to list the service letter program number on the packing slip and include the closed work order paperwork.
