ALL 3204 AND 3208 DINA (DIRECT INJECTION-NATURALLY ASPIRATED) ENGINESReference: Service ManualThis cylinder head group is the service replacement for the 3200 Series DINA cylinder head groups used on the above engines; however it cannot be used on 1100, 3100, 3204PC, 3204T, 3208T and 3208TA Engines. The cylinder head group is shipped with the intake and exhaust valves, valve springs, washers, locks and retainers installed. Additional parts sent with the cylinder head groups are for use in specific applications. Not all of the parts will be needed to install the cylinder head on a specific engine. This instruction gives the installation information needed for the cylinder head group and for the additional parts. Put 5P3413 Pipe Sealant on all threaded plugs and cup plugs used in the cylinder head installation.All 3200 Series Dina Engines
These engines use two different types of fuel injection nozzles, so different parts will be needed. Because the engine lifting eye bracket mounting holes in the cylinder head are different sizes, some rework and extra parts may be needed. (1) The two types of fuel injection nozzles used on 3200 Series DINA engines are type A and B. The fuel enters from the side in the type A nozzle, and enters from the end in the type B nozzle.(2) For engines with type A nozzles, the nozzles must be installed in the cylinder head using the new 1W2459 Fuel Nozzle Clamp Assemblies provided. For engines with type B nozzles, use the former nozzle clamps. The mounting holes in the cylinder head at location (C), used for a lifting eye bracket (or for other brackets), may be a different size than the original head; therefore rework and extra parts may be needed. Cylinder heads on earlier engines had bracket mounting holes with 3/8"-16-2B threads. Later cylinder heads had bracket mounting holes with 1/2"-13-2B threads.(3) If a cylinder head of the earlier type is replacing a later cylinder head, the replacement cylinder head will have 3/8"-16-2B threads in the mounting holes. Install the bracket with S1594 Bolts and 5M2894 Washers.(4) If a cylinder head of the later type is replacing an earlier cylinder head, the holes in the lifting eye bracket (or other brackets) must be enlarged to 13.0 mm Ø (0.53" Ø). Use 6H1717 Bolts and 5P8245 Washers to install the bracket on the replacement cylinder head.3208 Dina Engines
(1) If the cylinder head is to be used on the left side of the engine, install a 9L7657 Cup Plug at location (A). If the cylinder head is to be used on the right side of the engine, install a 9L7657 Cup Plug at location (B). On all cylinder heads, install a 7H3181 Hex Countersunk Head Plug at location (C). Install 5M6213 Plugs at locations (D) as necessary. Due to the different size holes in earlier and later cylinder heads, install either a 2B858 or a 5M6214 Plug in the opening at (E).
