The relief valve for the torque converter outlet controls the minimum pressure in the torque converter. When the pressure in the torque converter is 585 172 kPa (85 25 psi) or less, the force of spring (1) moves spool (2) in order to limit the flow of oil from the torque converter to the oil cooler. When the pressure in the torque converter rises above 585 172 kPa (85 25 psi), the pressure overcomes the force of spring (1) and spool (2) will move to the left in order to allow oil to flow from the torque converter.The outlet relief valve is mounted to the top of the torque converter cover.
