Manual Stopping
Stopping the engine immediately after it has been working under load can result in overheating and accelerated wear of engine components.Excessive temperatures in the turbocharger centerhousing will cause oil coking problems. Excessive temperatures in the turbocharger centerhousing may damage the turbocharger bearing/shaft system and significantly shorten the life of the turbocharger.Allow the engine to gradually cool before stopping the engine
There may be several methods for shutting off the engine. Make sure that the shutoff procedures are understood. Use the following general guidelines for stopping the engine.
Disengage the marine transmission in order to remove the load (if equipped).
Operate the engine for a cooldown period before stopping the engine. The engine will coast to a stop. Ensure that any system that provides external support to the engine is secured after the engine is stopped.Stopping the Engine with the Marine Power Display Panel (MPD Panel)

Automatic stopping will occur when the engine is operating in the automatic mode and the remote start/stop initiate contact opens. If the cooldown feature is utilized, the engine will operate for a programmed period before the engine stops. Otherwise, the engine will immediately shut off.
