Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
The engine can start automatically. Ensure that the power supply is isolated before any service or repairs is performed.

Use Tooling (A) to remove oil filter (6). Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Oil and Filter - Change" for the correct procedure.
Remove bolts (4) and remove engine oil filter base (3) from the cylinder block.
Remove gasket (5) (not shown).
If necessary, remove the cap from valve (1). Remove valve (1) from engine oil filter base (3). Remove O-ring seal (2) (not shown). Installation Procedure
Ensure that the engine oil filter base is free from wear or damage.

If necessary, install a new O-ring seal (2) (not shown) to valve (1). Install the valve to oil filter base (3). Tighten the valve to a torque of 17 N m (150 lb in). Install the cap to valve (1).
Position a new gasket (5) (not shown) onto the engine oil filter base (3).
Install engine oil filter base (3) to the cylinder block. Install bolts (4). Tighten the bolts to a torque of 22 N m (195 lb in).
Install new engine oil filter (6). Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Engine Oil and Filter - Change" for the correct procedure.
