This Program must be administered as soon as possible.When reporting the repair, use "PI10695" as the Part Number and "7751" as the Group Number, "56" as the Warranty ClaimDescription Code and "T" as the SIMS Description Code.
Exception: If the repair is done after failure, use "PI10695" as the Part Number, "7751" as the Group Number,"96" as the Warranty Claim Description Code, and "Z" as the SIMS Description Code.
PROBLEM
The generator fan guard comes loose when running. Running vibration causes the guard to slip forward, and bolts to loosen and fall off, exposing rotating fan parts, which may result in personal injury or death.

The Generator fan guards needs to be replaced on certain 3406C, C15, and C18 Genset product. Generator fan guard comes loose when running. Running vibration causes the guard to slip forward, and bolts to loosen and fall off, exposing rotating fan parts, which may result in personal injury or death. You will not be charged for the service performed.
Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service.
Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated 30Jun2008 when scheduling this service.

Rework Procedure
1. Reference.
SEBU7828 Operation & Maintenance manual.

2. Isolate Genset before commencing any work on the unit, activate emergency stop, open Genset breaker, and disconnect battery cables. Ensure health and safety requirements are adhered to at all times.
3. Remove both 241-4633 M6 air outlet guard-fixing screws and keep for reuse.
4. Remove existing air outlet guard. Do not re-use.
5. Fit 2423924/">242-3924 Air Outlet Guard.
