26. Relocate steering tank drain hose (17) and hydraulic tank drain hose (18) around rear LH fender support. Install clip (19) around hoses and under fender support bolt. Cut off excess length from hoses.27. Paint areas as required (touch-up).28. Install belts. Refer to the topic entitled "Remove & Install Belt", in your machine's appropriate Service Manual.29. Install Front And Center Guards (7YC579-2009, 4CJ1-240)
Do not torch or weld on painted areas. The effect of gasses from burned paint is a danger to the person doing the cutting or welding.
For welding in this procedure use E6013 weld rod.1. Remove the belts from both sides of the machine. Refer to the topic entitled "Remove & Install Belt", in your machine's appropriate Service Manual.2. Fabricate templates (A) and (B) for marking location of mounting hardware (bosses) for front and center guards. Templates are found at the end of this Special Instruction. Depending on the number of uses planned, the templates may be made from Masonite, plastic or sheet metal.
Location of Template (A).3. Mark the location of the two bosses for the rear of the center fender support. First, center template (A) on the fender support. Then, adjust template (A) so that it is between the vertical welds but high enough to be off the horizontal welds.
Location of Template (B) (center fender support shown).4. Mark the locations of the two bosses for the front of the center fender support and rear of the front fender support. First, center template (B) on the center fender support. Then, adjust template (B) so that it is between the vertical welds but high enough to be off the horizontal welds. Repeat this procedure for the rear of the front fender support.5. Remove the paint and clean all areas to be welded on.6. Fabricate (if needed) boss holder for welding (tack) bosses on supports and frame.
Boss Holder
(AA) Tee-Bolt (3/8 in. bolt & rod 2 in. length). (BB) Spacer (5K1928 or 4V6698). (CC) Boss (to be welded). (DD) Handle [18 in. length (rod or bar stock)]. (EE) Welds. (FF) 30 degrees. 7. Weld four bosses (14) to the front and rear of center fender support with a 4 mm (.16 in) fillet weld, all around. Assemble angle assembly (12), washer (15), and bolt (10) to each boss. 8. Weld two bosses (14) to the rear of front fender support with a 4 mm (.16 in) fillet weld, all around. Assemble angle assembly (12), washer (15), and bolt (10) to each boss. 9. Install front guard (16) to angle assemblies with four washers (9) and bolts (10). Remove rear guard assembly (5) before installing center guard (11).10. Install center guard (11), rear guard assembly (5) to angle assemblies (12) and blocks (13) with eight washers (9) and bolts (10).11. Install plate (7) to rear guard assembly (5) and the final drive housing with washer (9), bolt (10), and two washers and bolts (8).12. Repeat Steps 3 through 11 for the left hand
