Start By:
Remove the hydraulic cylinder. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hydraulic Cylinder - Remove and Install".

Use the machine to position the grapple with shell (1) flat on the ground. Without the hydraulic cylinder, the tip of shell (2) will rest on the ground. This position will help stabilize the shells during the removal procedure.

Install pin (8) for lifting purposes. Install pin (8) in mounting locations (3). Install plate (7), washer (6), and bolt (5). Use a suitable lifting device and pin (8) to support shell (9) during the disassembly procedure. Refer to Table 2 for the correct weight of the shell.

The above Illustration is exploded only for the purpose of clarity.Pin (8) was installed as a lifting location in order to remove shell (9) .Note: If necessary, relieve the tension on pin (4) by shifting the weight of shell (9) .
Remove bolt (11), washer (12), and plate (13) from pin (4) .
Use Tooling (C) to remove pin (4) from grapple housing (10) and shell (9) .
Repeat Step 3 and Step 4 for the pin on the opposite side of shell (9) .
Remove shell (9) from grapple housing (10) and position shell (9) on suitable cribbing. Disconnect the suitable lifting device from pin (8). Remove bolt (5), washer (6), plate (7), and pin (8) .

Note: If necessary, use the machine to adjust the weight of grapple housing (10) in order to reduce tension on pin (18) .
Remove bolt (15), washer (16), and plate (17). Use Tooling (C) to remove pin (18) .
Repeat Step 7 for the pin on the other side of shell (1) .Note: Push bars (14) will slide out of grapple housing (10) when the grapple housing is removed from shell (1) .
Use the machine to carefully remove grapple housing (10) from shell (1) .

Remove bolt (20), washer (21), and plate (22) from pin (23). Remove pin (23) from push bar (14) .
Remove push bar (14) from the mounting location on shell (1). After you remove one of two push bars (14), remove cover (19) .
Repeat Step 10 and Step 11 for the push bar on the other side of shell (1) .

Inspect bushings (25) in push bars (14). If necessary, remove lip seals (24) and use Tooling (B) and a suitable press to remove the bushings from both push bars (14) .

Use Tooling (A) and Tooling (B) to remove lip seals (27) and sleeve bearings
Remove the hydraulic cylinder. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Hydraulic Cylinder - Remove and Install".
