Drain the fuel into a suitable container for storage or disposal. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Fuel Tank Water and Sediment - Drain".

Disconnect hoses (1) and harness assembly (2).

Remove bolts (3) and plate (4).

Position Tooling (A) under the fuel tank guard, as shown. The combined weight of the fuel tank and the fuel tank guard is approximately 106 kg (235 lb).

Remove bolts (5) and (6). Repeat for the other side.

Use the Tooling (A) to lower fuel tank (7) and guard (8). Remove bolt (9). Repeat for the other side.

Remove bolts (11) and straps (12).

Use two people to remove fuel tank (7) from guard (8). Use Tooling (A) to slide guard (8) from fuel tank (7). The weight of guard (8) is approximately 73 kg (160 lb). The weight of fuel tank (7) is approximately 34 kg (75 lb).

Whenever fuel level sender (9) is removed from fuel tank (7), a new gasket (10) is required. Apply a 3 mm (0.1181 inch) diameter bead of Tooling (B) to both sides of gasket (10) before assembling to fuel tank (7).
